Win The Moment

High school season games start today, and we couldn't be more excited!

Parents, I want to gift you with something that will change your athlete's life, and yours as well!

The beginning of a season can often be a bit intimidating. ALL the practices ahead of you. ALL of the games ahead of you. The pressures of winning. The hard conversations after a loss. The realizations that as a Senior... This is IT!

What I want to give you is a mindset shift that has allowed me to win multiple National Championships on the field, and is a way that I think about my days... even to this day! It is simple, but life changing and effective.

WIN THE MOMENT!

That's it! Win the moment! But what allows you to win the day?

Your day is actually made up of lots of little decisions that we put together, and collectively they will determine how our day goes. We always say... "Life is the decisions you make".

So how do we do that? We break it down into smaller chunks because it can become overwhelming to worry about winning a season... or even state championship for that matter!

I will use Softball/Baseball as an example

  • Win The Day...

  • Win The Game...

  • Win The Inning...

  • Win The At-Bat

  • Win The Pitch

That's it. Simple. No longer is it ONE BIG season... It is a series of pitches and plays that you focus on.

  • You don't overlook the current pitch.

  • You don't dwell on the last play or pitch.

  • You focus on the current pitch and what you need to do to win

  • You lock in. Execute. Reassess. Reengage.

How does this apply to you parents?

  • You win the morning

  • You win each hour at work. Dominating what you need to do

  • You win the game by supporting your student athlete while they perform

  • You win the post game by SUPPORTING your student athlete... not by tearing down and picking apart what they did wrong. (They already know!)

  • You win the evening by keeping the phone off and connecting with your student athletes about life, school, sports and reminding them of where their value comes from. (Not sports or grades!)

Heck, right now as I am writing this, I am focusing on winning THIS email! Im worried about winning each paragraph. What I am not worried about is the text messages that keep popping up... Why? Because my phone is flipped over and I don't even know if they are there. I'm not worried about anything else other than trying to change lives with the words that I put down.

So parents and athletes alike... If this season starts to overwhelm you and the pressures of scholarships, pleasing people, playing time... or even the MLB draft in some of our cases mounts on us... Remember to WIN THE MOMENT. Chunk it down to the current moment you are in, and do whatever it takes to WIN that!

We are so excite to watch you and your athletes shine on the field this season! I expect our Saturday Shout-Out emails to be FULL of amazing success stories for all our spring athletes!

Have an amazingly blessed day!
Remember, GO WIN THE DAY!
